A private preserve dedicated to nature
We are working to restore and protect a local wetland for the well-being of all!
Join us on this life-long adventure!
Our Vision – Create and preserve a healthy natural ecosystem that holds floodwater, purifies water, and provides habitat and a corridor for wildlife to thrive. Creating this ecosystem will also provide green space for the community’s well-being for generations.
Our Mission – Leverage available resources to educate surrounding property owners and the community to restore and conserve available green space, creating a large, high-quality natural area and habitat.
Our Strategy – Collaborate with property owners surrounding the Aull Nature Preserve to restore and create a conservation easement for their land.

In 2026, we will expand our efforts to eliminate non-native plants and enhance the growth of native plants to aid our pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.
About ANP
The land is who we are; it reflects our history. Native people were the original caretakers of the land, which they treated with reverence. Our future will reveal the efforts we make to nurture the land today. Our role and responsibility are to honor and continue the work others have done before us and to inspire others to protect and respect nature.
Join our team of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers to help us focus on restoring and protecting this vital resource.

We are working to save a wetland! Aull Nature Preserve (ANP) was founded in January 2022 as an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit charity. We are dedicated to protecting and restoring vital wetlands, ~15 acres, in Knollwood, Illinois.
Our primary goal is to create a nature sanctuary where native plants, birds, and wildlife can thrive. Today, we restrict access to ANP because there are no trails, and restoration work has just begun. Once we protect and restore the surrounding acres of wetland in Knollwood, we will consider the feasibility of allowing public access to this sensitive ecosystem.
We encourage you to explore the sites at the Lake County Forest Preserve, Lake Bluff Openlands, and Lake Forest Openlands, where there are large, diverse areas for you to enjoy while providing a natural habitat for wildlife.
